Benito Saragosa Obituary, Clark County Accident Death: A Beloved Resident Has Died

The Clark County community is grieving the tragic loss of Benito Saragosa, a 37-year-old man who was killed in a senseless carjacking and crash near Charleston Boulevard and South Decatur Boulevard over the weekend. His death has left family, friends, and the broader community in deep sorrow as they process the devastating events that led to his untimely passing.

Authorities say that Saragosa was sleeping in the passenger seat of a black Hyundai, which was left running in the parking lot of a Walmart while a family member briefly went inside. It was during this time that 55-year-old Harold Allen stole the vehicle and drove away at a high rate of speed, with Saragosa still inside.

The stolen car later struck a silver minivan before continuing on and crashing into a rock and a light pole. Saragosa, who had suffered critical injuries in the crash, was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead. Allen, the car thief, sustained only minor injuries in the crash and was arrested shortly after the incident. He now faces multiple charges, including open murder with a deadly weapon, grand larceny of a motor vehicle, and first-degree kidnapping.

The impact of this senseless tragedy has reverberated throughout the community, with many struggling to understand the circumstances that led to such a loss. Saragosa and Allen are not believed to have known each other before the incident, which makes the violence all the more incomprehensible.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Benito Saragosa’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. As the legal process moves forward, we hope that justice for Benito and his family is served. May his memory live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and may he rest in peace.
