Christopher Leggett Obituary, Amherst, NS Shooting Death: Community Mourns A Tragic Loss

Christopher Leggett, 41, of Amherst, Nova Scotia, tragically passed away on April 13, 2026, following what family and friends describe as a senseless act of violence. His untimely death has left a profound emptiness in the hearts of those who knew him, with his community, loved ones, and friends mourning the loss of a man celebrated for his warmth, generosity, and the indelible mark he left on everyone he encountered.

Born and raised in Amherst, Christopher was the beloved son of Robert Leggett (and Tina) and Deborah Leggett (and Barry Wry). From an early age, he was known for his ability to connect with others and his undeniable presence, one that made a lasting impact, whether through a thoughtful conversation or an unexpected act of kindness.

Loved ones fondly recall Christopher’s loyalty, humor, and sincerity. Beneath his charismatic personality, he had a deeply caring heart. He was always the one to make others feel seen and appreciated, and his kindness was felt far beyond his closest circle. His passing has left an unfillable void in the community, where many reflect on the positive legacy he leaves behind.

Perhaps the greatest role in Christopher’s life was that of a father to his son, Christopher Pye. His family and friends remember his pride and joy in fatherhood, with the bond he shared with his son being central to his identity. Christopher’s devotion as a father is one of the most enduring aspects of his memory.

Christopher is also survived by his sisters, Laura Leggett, Tina (Derek) Smith, and Stephanie (Nathan) Milligan, as well as his cherished nieces and nephews—Gavin, Avery, Owen, Willow, Chloe, and Theo—who brought immeasurable joy to his life. The family has expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of support and condolences during this difficult time.

Beyond his family, Christopher’s friends and community members will continue to remember his generosity, his ability to bring people together, and his infectious sense of humor. While his physical presence may be gone, the love and kindness he shared will remain ever-present in the lives of those who knew him.

Arrangements for Christopher Leggett are being handled by the Jones Family Funeral Centre at 70 Church Street, Amherst, Nova Scotia. Following his family’s wishes, there will be no formal visitation or service, and cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to a charity of the donor’s choice in Christopher’s memory. Though the pain of his loss is immense, his legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.
