Mike and Rachel Elbert, and Daughter Obituary Hermann, MO Accident Death: In Loving Memory Of A Beloved Family
Hermann, Missouri, is grieving the profound and heartbreaking loss of three beloved lives taken far too soon in a tragic accident that has shaken the community to its core.

Mike Elbert, 47, his wife Rachel Elbert, 42, and their cherished 10-year-old daughter lost their lives following a devastating head-on collision on the evening of April 13, 2026, in Franklin County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred along Missouri Route 100 when an eastbound vehicle crossed the center line and collided with an oncoming SUV. Despite the swift response of emergency personnel, the severity of the impact led to an immeasurable loss.
Mike and Rachel were pronounced deceased at the scene. Their young daughter, critically injured, was transported to St. Louis Children’s Hospital, where she later passed away. The driver of the other vehicle sustained moderate injuries and is receiving medical care.
Beyond the tragedy itself, the loss resonates deeply through Hermann. Mike Elbert was widely known for his commitment to the youth of the community, serving as a volunteer assistant football coach at Hermann High School, where he inspired and mentored countless students. Their daughter, a student at Hermann Elementary School, was remembered as a bright and beloved presence among her peers and teachers.
In the wake of this devastating event, the Gasconade County R-1 School District has extended counseling services to support students, staff, and families grappling with grief. Superintendent Dr. Geoff Neill reflected the shared sorrow, describing it as an overwhelmingly sad moment for both the family and the entire district.
As Hermann mourns, it also stands united—holding tight to memories, offering prayers, and supporting one another through unimaginable loss. The legacy of this family will endure in the hearts of all who knew and loved them.
They will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
